The mission of the Leland D. Case Library for Western Historical Studies is to preserve and promote the history of the Black Hills, South Dakota and the American West by collecting documentary evidence, protecting the materials, and providing access to researchers.
The Friends of Case Library support this mission by collecting materials, sponsoring projects, and supporting our newsletter, The Black Hills Historian. The Friends also sponsor two freshman scholarships each year.
Your membership helps support scholarships, purchase books, sponsor public talks, and publish this newsletter. We also hope the Friends will help get the word out when their friends and family are looking for a place to preserve their individual or organizational papers and photographs, or wish to donate books related to the Black Hills region or western South Dakota.
Friends memberships are just $20, and you may donate more if you wish. If you are unable to print the form below, you may send a check, payable to "BHSU Foundation," along with your name and mailing address.

Two Case Scholarships are given to incoming freshmen majoring in history or a related field. Preference is given to students from Western South Dakota; Crook or Weston County, Wyoming; or Carter County, Montana.
The Greene Scholarship is awarded to a student with junior or senior standing, a 3.0 GPA or higher, and who plans to go on to graduate school. Preference is given to History and History-Education majors, but American Indian Studies and Political Science majors may be considered if an eligible History student cannot be identified.
The Friends of Case Library accept donations for the Leland D. Case Library for Western Historical Studies. We accept the following types of materials: books, periodicals, maps, DVDs, photographs, manuscripts, personal papers, and organizational records. Donations of artifacts, art, ephemera, and obsolete formats such as cassette tapes, VHS tapes, etc., are considered on a case-by-case basis. For large donations, please contact us in advance of bringing materials in. Some donations may require a signed gift agreement.
Monetary donations are also accepted. To donate online, visit: http://www.bhsu.edu/Alumni-Donors/Get-Involved/Donate
